DAVID KAMP, FASLA, LF. David Kamp, the founding principal of Dirtworks, PC, has more than 29 years' experience in the private and public sector. Prior to forming his own firm Mr. Kamp participated in large-scale site development, including involvement in the design of Australia's New Parliament House and a variety of projects throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.
Selected as a Loeb Fellow in Advanced Environmental Studies at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Mr. Kamp began a year of self directed research and study covering a range of factors, including ergonomics, medical ethics and research advancing the effectiveness of nature and gardens to influence health care environments. As an artist-in-residence at the MacDowell Colony, America's oldest and most prestigious artist colony, Mr. Kamp confirmed his exploration with the development of a series of prototypical gardens serving a range of individuals with special needs.
Mr. Kamp is a guest lecturer at numerous universities and conferences across the United States and Europe, and currently teaches at University of Virginia (where he is an alumna). Mr. Kamp was a contributor on the committee that developed the Green Guide for Healthcare Version 2.0 Pilot, a best practices guide for evaluating health and sustainability for the healthcare industry. Most recently Mr. Kamp was featured in Recreating Eden, an international documentary series exploring the role of gardens in the lives of people. A second television documentary, GardenStory, will be broadcast on PBS in spring 2008 featuring engaging examples of the power of restorative gardens to support health and well-being, assuage grief and enrich the lives of patients, visitors and staff.
Mr. Kamp is a Fellow of the American Society for Landscape Architects, a designation conferred on individuals in recognition of exceptional work in landscape architecture over a sustained period of time.

Tannen Printz, LEED AP
Senior Associate
Tannen comes to Dirtworks from the Pacific Northwest where he received a BLA from the University of Oregon, Eugene. His experience includes design and management of corporate, residential, campus and habitat restoration projects. He is particularly skilled in managing and coordinating landscape, engineering and architectural components in large-scale projects.
Wendy Andringa, LEED AP
Associate
Wendy holds an MLA degree from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry where she was also an instructor of undergraduate design courses. She has a BFA with a concentration in photography from Humboldt State University, Arcata California. At Dirtworks, she has applied her broad design experience to a wide range of institutional and educational projects.
Hans Hesselein, LEED AP
Associate
Hans holds a BLA degree from North Carolina State University and has worked professionally in Raleigh and Dusseldorf, Germany. In conjunction with office practice, he has worked in the design/build field and nursery industry, which provides the firm with a certain perspective in balancing design sensitivity and practicality.
Erin Upton
Landscape Designer / Project Manager
Erin received her MLA degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada after earning an undergraduate degree in French and International Studies from the University of Oregon, Eugene. Her deep commitment to both sustainability and the role of the natural environment in health and wellness provides the firm with unique resources for our many health care clients.
Martin Harwood, LEED AP
Landscape Designer / Project Manager
Martin received his BLA from the University of Georgia. He has been integral in the design of numerous Dirtworks projects including university plazas, urban parks, healthcare, roof, and residential gardens. A few of his professional interests include: ecological restoration, native plants, sustainable design and the positive role urban landscapes have for their communities.
