The Center for Discovery offers individuals with multiple disabilities and medical frailties -and their families innovative educational, clinical and social experiences designed to enrich their lives through personal accomplishment. At the heart of their program is a connection to and celebration of being in nature. Located in rural New York State, the facility's landscape reflects the area's agricultural heritage with woodlands, meadows, pastures and farmland.

Dirtworks is working closely with clinicians, nurses, teachers and residential staff on a variety of on-going projects to offer individuals the opportunity to engage with nature in their own terms, at their own pace and in their own way. In collaboration with Guenther 5 Architects current projects include enhancements to the new Health Center, the design of a Family Resource Center and an Activity Dance Barn. Additional projects include outdoor activity and education areas, walking trails and wildlife and native plant enhancement programs.

In an effort to support sustainable design practices, the Health Center was awarded a Silver LEED Rating. The Family Resource Center and Activity Dance Barn are both seeking LEED certification.
